Velve’s Debut Album

Only just finished in April 2010, in this tender ode to love Velve's touching and mysterious voice arises in all its facets, changing from witty to pensive to poetic, calling us from the darkness of despair, only to lift us up again, leading us to the shores of dreams... dreams of sensuality, of love. Velve is not shying from melancholic depth nor from glamour, she reveals very intimate, personal feelings, dives into memories and appeals to love - confessional songwriting at its best from the perspective of a woman.

Musically the album is subtle and moody with a downtempo flow. Velve’s compositions are effortlessly and brilliantly played by top musicians Johannes Saal and Bertil Mark. Mastering was done by Shawn Joseph in Bristol, who has recently been engaged in Portishead’s album „Third“ and the works of Massive Attack. Shawn about Novelettes of Love: „It was a great pleasure to meet Velve and work on her songs. It is organic heart and soul music that immediately envelopes the listener.“

Hypnotic sounds and cool grooves draw you in with the first track, Man, followed by Morninglight – a real grower with unusual ethereal guitars. Bed and Comin By bear humorous lyrics and sympathetic daytime qualities. With Desire, a sirenesque a cappella-interlude, things start getting spooky. Haunting voices, pulsating drumbeats and noisy guitars add up to eerily wonderful and dramatic love ballads washing over you, none of which resembles the other.

About Velve

Velve’s father, who is also a musician, encouraged her singing as a child and she got her first stage experience at the age of 5. Piano and guitar lessons provided a basis for her talents as singer and songwriter.

After she had been working as author of films and documentations for many years, she completed her training in acting and singing and has since been working as a speaker and narrator. Besides that, she has also gathered broad stage experience as presenter.

Her first relaese with self written songs was in 2002 with 5000 Records London for EMI, followed by collaborations with Ladomat and HB 27 Sens Records.

Novelettes of Love is the first album she fully produced under own direction. In her studio in Berlin, Oneface Vocal Arts, Velve has recorded the vocals, written and composed all songs on guitar, developed the arrangements and edited all instrumental recordings.
